Voters in Ba Dinh, Hoan Kiem, and Tay Ho districts, Hanoi hailed the practical achievements of the ninth session of the 13th National Assembly (NA) while meeting Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on July 18.
They took note of changes in the NA’s working style particularly in Question & Answer sessions and the debate and passing of laws and resolutions.
At the same time, voters expressed concerns over increased law violation and violence at schools and called for better publicity campaigns to raise legal awareness among youth, students as well as stricter supervision of law enforcement.
Many urged more efforts to combat corruption and wastefulness in public investment and construction.
Others called for support for local businesses as the country signed many free trade agreements.
The Party leader hailed the voters’ opinions, saying that they reflect the public’s deep interest in NA’s activities and national issues.
He acknowledged their suggestions over a raft of issues, such as improving labour productivity, fighting trade fraud and corruption and waste, increasing communication activities on the Bien Dong (East Sea) situation, strengthening monitoring and supervision of public expenditure, among others.
The Party chief also highlighted the importance of Party congresses at all levels in preparation for the 12 th National Party Congress.
Regarding his recent US visit, the Party General Secretary affirmed that the Party and State pursue a consistent external policy of peace, independence, diversification and multilateralisation of international relations in order to maintain a peaceful and stable environment for the nation’s development.
He noted that development of diplomatic relation with big nations and key partners is part of the external relation strategy of the Party and the State.
