Hanoi (VNA) – General Secretary of the Communist Party of VietnamNguyen Phu Trong on June 17 met with voters in Thanh Xuan, Ha Dong and Cau Giaydistricts, Hanoi, to inform them about outcomes of the recent fifth meeting ofthe 14th National Assembly.
Most of the voters highly valued results of the legislative meeting, which,they said, reflects reform and democracy.
They raised concerns over a range of issues like traffic safety, firefighting,environmental protection, food safety and hygiene, and salary and socialinsurance policies.
Many agreed with the policy on building special administrative-economic units.However, they said, the process requires a cautious, comprehensive study.
They applauded the NA’s decision to postpone the adoption of the draft Law onSpecial Administrative-Economic Units, saying the decision reflects thelegislature’s response to opinions of voters and people.
Party General Secretary Trong said the building of specialadministrative-economic units aims to attract more foreign investors and pilotnew mechanisms in order to spur national economic growth.
“However, we should be cautious because it is a new, tough, sensitive,important matter,” the leader noted.
Talking about people gathering to protest the draft law, the Party chief saidthose taking advantage of the situation to sabotage the Party, State and regime,and harm national interests must be strictly punished.
He called on voters and people nationwide to keep calm, be vigilant and trustthe leadership of the Party, State and Government.
On the cyber security law, he said many countries around the world have thisregulation. He stressed the need to have the cyber security law to protectcyber security, the interests of people as well as the regime amidst thedevelopment of high technology.
The National Assembly recently approved the cyber security law with 86.86percent of votes.
On anti-corruption, the Party chief agreed with voters’ opinions that the fightneeds the involvement of all people.
The draft law on anti-corruption discussed at the fifth meeting of the 14th NAhas two new points – corruption combat in the private sector and assetdeclaration, he said, asking voters to continue giving opinions on the bill soas to be approved in next meeting.
The Party chief also agreed with opinions on the need to promote the role ofthe Vietnam Fatherland Front, increase the supervision of voters and people aswell as the role of press in national building and safeguarding in general andthe fight against corruption in particular.-VNA
