Hanoi (VNA) – TheParty Central Committee on October 6 wrapped up its 8th plenum afterfive days of working, with General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in the chair. It issuedan announcement on the work of the plenum.
Participants of the plenumpassed the basic contents of the resolution on the strategy on sustainablydeveloping Vietnam’s sea-based economy to 2030, with a vision to 2045. The PartyCentral Committee assigned the Political Bureau to perfect, officially issue andorganize the implementation of the resolution.
The Committee adopted theconclusion on the socio-economic situation and the state budget in 2018 as wellas the plan on socio-economic development and state budget projection for 2019.Participants also reached a consensus to nominate General Secretary Nguyen PhuTrong for the National Assembly to elect to the position of the President ofthe state in its coming 6th session.
During the plenum, theCommittee considered and decided on the issue of the provisions on theresponsibility of party members and officials - first of all members of the PoliticalBureau, the Secretariat and the Central Committe - to set example. It alsoconsidered and decided to establish sub-committees to prepare for the 13th Party Congress, and elected two additional members to the Inspection Commissionof the 12th Party Central Committee.
The Committee considered anddecided to take a disciplinary measure against Nguyen Bac Son, former member ofthe Party Central Committee, former Secretary of the Party Committee and formerMinister of Information and Communications by stripping him of his position ofa member of the 11th Party Central Committee and the Secretary ofthe Party Committee of the Ministry of Information and Communications of the2011-2016 tenure.
Besides, the Committee alsoconsidered and decided to take a disciplinary measure against Tran Van Minh,former member of the Party Central Committee, former deputy head of itsOrganization Commission, former Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee,former Secretary of the Party Committee and former Chairman of the Da NangPeople’s Committee, by expelling him from the Party.
The Party Central Committeeconsidered and discussed a report on the important work done by the PoliticalBureau from the 7th plenum to the 8th one, a report onthe Party’s financial work for 2017 and a number of other important issues. Italso called on the whole Party, people and army to strive so as to successfullyachieve the goals set for 2018 and the following years.-VNA
All members of the 12th Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee have agreed to introduce General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong as a candidate for the post of President, to be elected in the 14th National Assembly’s sixth session.
The 8th plenum of the 12th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam wrapped up in Hanoi on October 6 after five days of working, completing all items on the agenda.
Stronger efforts and determination are required to achieve and surpass the set targets, especially in the eradication of makeshift and dilapidated houses nationwide, the acceleration of public investment disbursement, and the implementation of nationally important transport projects, PM Pham Minh Chinh noted.
The trip will be made at the invitations of Chinese Premier Li Qiang and WEF President and CEO Børge Brende, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Long spoke highly of the dynamic, positive, and comprehensive development of Vietnam – Russia relations in recent years. Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien welcomed the proposals put forward by the US side and reiterated Vietnam’s request for consideration of key areas of interest, including reciprocal tariff policies and access for Vietnamese key export products to the US market.
Deputy PM Le Thanh Long proposed countries promote shared values, including building trust, sincerity, and solidarity among nations and peoples; fostering cooperation spirit and responsible behaviour as well as upholding international law and the UN Charter; and placing people at the centre and as the goal, the key player, and the driving force of all policies.
The show, together with a grand parade to be held silmutaneously at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi, will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, the National Day, and the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA).
In particular, in April 2023, the two sides successfully carried out a joint operation that dismantled a major organised, transnational drug trafficking ring involving both Vietnamese and Cambodian suspects.
