Parliamentary cooperation crucial to Vietnam-China political trust
The cooperation between the National People’s Congress of China and the National Assembly of Vietnam serves as an important channel to enhance the countries’ mutual understanding and political trust, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has said.

Beijing (VNA) – The cooperation between theNational People’s Congress of China (NPCC) and the National Assembly of Vietnamserves as an important channel to enhance the countries’ mutual understandingand political trust, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has said.
He made the remark while meeting with Chairmanof the NPCC Standing Committee Zhang Dejiang at the Great Hall of the People inBeijing on January 13 afternoon, forming part of his official visit to China.
He briefed his host about the outcomes of histalks with Party General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping,reiterating that promoting the healthy and stable development of the countries’friendship and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership is in line withthe basic and long-term interests of the two peoples while benefiting regionaland global peace, stability and development.
The Vietnamese leader asked the NPCC and theVietnamese National Assembly to enhance exchanging legislative experience and supervisingand speeding up their respective Governments’ realisation of the commonperceptions and agreements reached between the countries’ senior leaders.
The two sides should increase coordination andmutual support at regional and global inter-parliamentary forums, and workclosely in ensuring the execution of international treaties to which bothcountries are parties for the sake of peace, stability, cooperation anddevelopment in the region and the world.
Valuing the importance of Trong’s official visitto China, Zhang congratulated Vietnam on its socio-economic developmentoutcomes last year and wished it more development in the future.
He also spoke highly of the progress in thecountries’ relations and cooperation between the two parliaments, stressingthat the Chinese Party, Government and NPCC treasure and want to continuallystrengthen the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with Vietnam.
They want both sides to well control and handleexisting disagreements and determinedly not let those affect the overall soundrelationship between the two Parties and nations.
Zhang noted his NPCC is well aware of itsresponsibility for contributing to the healthy and positive development ofbilateral ties. It will certainly coordinate more closely with the VietnameseNational Assembly, work harder to bolster cooperation, and create favourableconditions for Vietnamese and Chinese businesses and people to step upexchanges and economic partnership, thereby helping to solidify the twopeoples’ political trust and amity.-VNA
