Overseas Vietnamese expect new national changes

HCM City (VNA) – Vietnamese abroad are looking forward to changes after the 12th National Party Congress concluded successf🌌u♚lly with numerous new important policies.

Doctor Nguyen Quoc Binh, a Vietnamese-Canadian who laid foundations for the construction of a biotechnology center in Ho Chi Minh City upon his return to Vietnam in 2003, said the Party and State have put forth a number of policies to support Vietnamese expatriates to return home and do business here.
The State’s open policy has allowed an increasing number of overseas Vietnamese to come back home and make livelihoods, he said, adding that many expatriates have made significant contributions to local social welfare and charitable activities. He said he was one of the first persons appointed by HCM City to a leadership position in a State agency, showing a change in mechanism to lure and use overseas Vietnamese intelectuals.
Nguyen Van Cong, an overseas Vietnamese man who returned from France in 2000, shared that he and some other overseas Vietnamese set up a group to build nearly 200 bridges for children in the Mekong Delta to go to school over the past decade. Meanwhile, Ta Tan Cuong, a Vietnamese living in Germany, said he pins a lot of hope on the country’s new generation of leaders. It is notable that the 12th Party Central Committee include many young members. Those in the Politburo are very young too, he said, adding that he hopes the new leaders will have a breakthrough mindset to push the country’s development forward.-VNA
