A delegation from the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs(COVA) led by Foreign Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Son visited Laosfrom March 28-31 to boost relations between the two countries.
While receiving the COVA delegation in Vientiane on March 29, LaoDeputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Doangchay Phichith expressedhis wish that the two sides will strengthen the exchange of experiences,helping foster the traditional friendship, special solidarity andcomprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos .
Deputy Minister Son congratulated Laos on the success of the 9 thNational Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) andinformed the Lao Deputy PM about the results of the talks between COVAand the Liaison Committee for Overseas Laotians.
Heaffirmed that Vietnam ’s Foreign Ministry will closely coordinatewith its Lao counterpart to strengthen the comprehensive relationshipbetween the two ministries and implement a memorandum of understandingsigned between the two committees on the day.
According to the MoU, between 2011-2015 the two sides will continueclose coordination, regularly exchange ideas on the world situation orevents relating to their countries’ overseas residents and support eachother in communication work.
The two sides will jointly prevent and struggle against hostile elements which sabotage the two nations.
They will create favourable conditions for each other in mapping outplans on exchanges of information, experiences, experts and workingdelegations./.
