Over 429 billion VND raised for Mekong Delta poor students

Tra Vinh (VNA)𒉰 – The study promotion associations across the Mekong Delta have raised over 429 billion VND (nearly 11 million USD) in 2015 to support poor students, heard a conference in Tra Vinh province on December 24.

With this fund, the localities in the region have provided financial support for nearly 553,600 disadvantaged students.
In the promotion month of 2015, the associations mobilised more than 13 billion VND (572,000 USD) to grant scholarships to more than 50,000 needy students with outstanding academic performance.
The associations, along with local authorities and benefactors, have implemented a number of programmes to promote study among local inhabitants following the Prime Minister’s project on building a life-long learning society. In 2016, they will focus on establishing study promotion groups and diversifying communication campaigns to enable underprivileged pupils to go to school.-VNA
