Over 2,500 athletes to run at Hanoi International Heritage Marathon
More than 2,500 athletes from nearly 50 countries and territories worldwide have registered to join the Hanoi International Heritage Marathon 2018 which will take place in the capital city on October 21, heard a press conference on October 16.

Hanoi (VNA) – More than 2,500 athletes from nearly 50 countries andterritories worldwide have registered to join the Hanoi International HeritageMarathon 2018 which will take place in the capital city on October 21, heard apress conference on October 16.
The marathon is the first of its kind running through the city’s most stunning roads,tourist attractions of Hoan Kiem (Returned Sword) Lake, Long Bien bridge andWest Lake, together with other architectural works closely connected with thecapital city’s development.
Athletes will compete in four categories, namely 42km marathon, 21km halfmarathon, 10km run, and 5km run.
Prizes worth 400 million VND (17,000 USD) will be awarded for the winners atthe race.
According to Do Chi Nghia, Editor-In-Chief of the Dai bieu Nhan dan newspaperand head of the organising board, the event will help popularise the benefitsof marathon to people from all walks of life, and nudge Hanoi’s heritagescloser to international friends.-VNA
More than 1,500 runners, including 120 foreigners, participated in the Hue Half Marathon 2018 in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue on September 2.
More than 800 runners from Vietnam and 16 other countries and territories raced in the first Trang An Marathon at the Trang An Landscape Complex in the northern province of Ninh Binh on September 9.
The annual Sa Pa international mountain marathon 2018, the sixth of its kind, took place in Sa Pa district, the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai on September 21-23, as part of the Sa Pa autumn festival 2018.
It is the first time that the country is to hold a G1-level tournament which is expected to lure more than 100 athletes of 15 countries and regions at Go Vap Gymnasium.
Nguyen Trong Nha Uyen has made history for Vietnam’s dancesport by clinching a bronze medal in the solo Latin category at the WDSF World Championship 2025 in Germany.
The ambassador noted that among the 300,000 Vietnamese residing in the RoK, around 3,000 are living in Pyeongtaek and contributing actively to the local economy. Ho expressed his hope that the local authorities will continue support the overseas Vietnamese community in the city.
This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee. The Vietnamese team will gather on June 26 in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, where they will train until July 14 before departing for Indonesia for the ASEAN U23 Championship 2025, which runs from July 15 to 29. Vietnam will face Laos on July 19 and Cambodia on July 22 in the group stage.

For the first time, Vietnamese audiences will have the opportunity to experience the ballet masterpiece "Don Quixote" in its original version by renowned choreographer Marius Petipa.

This marks the first time Vietnam has hosted a continental-level Muay event which will feature competitions across 28 weight categories in combat and eight performance categories.
