Over 16,150 new COVID-19 cases, 30.833 recoveries nationwide

Vietnam logged 16,157 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours till 4pm on December 24, including 15 imported and over 10,528 community cases, reported the Health Ministry.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam logged16,157 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours till 4pm on December 24, including15 imported and over 10,528 community cases, reported the Health Ministry.

Hanoi still recorded the highestnumber of infections with 1,834 cases. It was followed by Ca Mau with 1,334, TayNinh 948, Vinh Long 868, Khanh Hoa and Can Tho each 785, Dong Thap 782, and Ho ChiMinh City 679.

The country has so far confirmed1,620,869 infections, ranking 31st out of 223 countries andterritories.

Since the fourth pandemic wave hitthe country on April 27, as many as 1,615,292 cases have been discovered, ofthem 1,212,444 recovered.

The same day, 30,883 cases were given all-clear from the virus and 235 otherswere confirmed dead from the disease. Among 7,767 cases under treatment, 890are given ventilators and 19 on life support.

The number of fatalities has so far reached 30,766, or 1.9 percent of the totalinfections.

✃ Vietnam, France collaborate in vaccine production technology transfer

Under the agreement, VNVC and Sanofi will gradually implement technology transfers to enable domestic production of several key Sanofi vaccines that are widely used in Vietnam. In addition, Sanofi will support VNVC in training human resources and quality management in vaccine research and manufacturing.
