Over 1,350 people die in traffic accidents in first two months
A total of 2,822 traffic accidents occurred across Vietnam in the last two months from December 16, 2018 to February 15, 2019, leaving 1,356 deaths and 2,169 injured.
Hanoi (VNA)෴ – A total of 2,822 traffic accidents occurred across Vietnam in the last two months from December 16, 2018 to February 15, 2019, leaving 1,356 deaths and 2,169 injured, according to reports from the Ministry of Public Security and the Vietnam Maritime Administration.
The figures represented year-on-year decreases of 15.6 percent, 9.96 percent and 13.8 percent, respectively.
Deputy head of the National Traffic Safety Committee Khuat Viet Hung said despite drops, several serious accidents were reported in the period, including a case on Noi Bai-Lao Cai Highway killing two people and injuring 10 others on February 13.

As many as 96 people were killed while 110 others were injured in 144 traffic accidents over the first five days of the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, which began on February 2, according to the Ministry of Public Security.
Up to 177 traffic accidents happened across Vietnam in the first six days of the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival, which began on February 2, killing 112 people and injuring 150 others.
Statistics from the Traffic Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security show that in the week ending on February 4, the whole country saw 214 traffic accidents which took the lives of 135 people and injured 189 others.
As many as 22 people were killed and 19 others injured in 22 traffic accidents that occurred nationwide on February 10 (the sixth day of the Lunar New Year).
