Over 1 million people get help during Humanitarian Month
Over 1 million people received help during the Humanitarian Month (May 1-31) at a total value of more than 440 billion VND (19.1 million USD), reported the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRCS).
Hanoi (VNA) – Over 1 million people received helpduring the Humanitarian Month (May 1-31) at a total value of more than 440billion VND (19.1 million USD), reported the Central Committee of the VietnamRed Cross Society (VRCS).
The month, themed “For a safe community”, was the first ofits kind launched by the VRCS Central Committee as directed by the PartyCentral Committee’s Secretariat.
Accordingly, all municipal and provincial VRCS chaptersembarked on activities to the welcome of the public, including offering free healthcare and holding nearly 3,000 sessions to raise public awareness of COVID-19prevention and control measures.
They also distributed over 4.3 million masks, some 61,500soap bars and hand sanitizer bottles, nearly 18,500 protective suits, alongwith large amount of daily necessities as well as cash to those in need.
A wide range of support models such as on-the-spot andmobile markets were launched in pandemic hotspots, together with otheractivities such as distribution of gifts, free meals for patients in need, andhome repair for poor households.
During the month, the VRCS built 1,589 houses for the poor,organised 175 humanitarian fairs, offered over 30,300 free vouchers, freecheck-ups and medicines to more than 127,100 people, and collected over 76,600units of blood./.

More than 434 billion VND (18.6 million USD) was used to support over 562,000 needy people during May, as part of the 2020 humanitarian month programme run by the Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRCS).
The Vietnam Red Cross Society (VNRC)’s 2021 humanitarian month themed “For a safe community” will take place in May, with its activities being in full swing between May 8 and 19.

The programmes have brought about positive changes to rural infrastructure, comprehensively improved the material and spiritual lives of farmers, and contributed to Vietnam's economic restructuring, said PM Pham Minh Chinh.
The festival highlighted the contributions and robust development of Vietnam's revolutionary press over the past century while promoting press products and showcasing the creativity of Vietnamese journalists.
The programme on sustainable poverty reduction has achieved its annual targets for reducing the poverty rate as assigned by the National Assembly and the Government. It has fulfilled five specific objectives and five five-year goals, and met nine out of 12 indicators related to addressing basic social service shortages.
UNICEF stands ready to support the Government in implementing this important law and in continuing to invest in teachers as the cornerstone of a resilient, inclusive, and high-quality education system for all children.

At a review conference held on June 21, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Van Sinh praised the province’s scientific, coordinated, and flexible approach. He noted that the early completion reflects the strong commitment of local authorities, the business community, philanthropists, and residents in improving housing conditions for disadvantaged groups.
