Head of the HCM City representative office of the Committee onEthnic Minority Affairs Nguyen Xuan Chau and Director of the VietnamNews Agency’s Southern Region Office Nguyen Tien Le presented gifts tothe students.
Among the students, one won a firstprize, seven won second prizes, four won third prizes and seven wonconsolation prizes in the national academic contests, while six got topmarks in the university entrance examinations.
Chau said the awards aim to encourage poor students to pursue higherlearning. He noted that the education and training work in mountainousand ethnic minority regions has been improved over the past time, withmost of provinces and districts having ethnic boarding schools.-VNA
