Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Fatherland Front Nguyen ThienNhan met voters in Yen Dung district, northern Bac Giang province onOctober 15 to prepare for the upcoming sixth session of the 13 thNational Assembly (NA).
Voters asked the Deputy PM tomake clear wrongdoings committed by local authorities in policyimplementation. They also urged him to draw attention to local concerns,such as the development of rural areas following the national model,the building of irrigation infrastructure and health clinics, anincrease in environmental protection and more social security inindustrial zones.
Deputy PM Nhan asked the localauthorities to mobilise resources to protect trademarks and ensure theproduction and consumption of agricultural products.
The same day, Politburo member and Secretary of the Hanoi PartyCommittee Pham Quang Nghi also met with voters in Hanoi. He called onthe city’s authorities to undertake their assigned tasks with a highdegree of responsibility during a working session with the municipalPeople’s Council, People’s Committee and Fatherland Front Chapter.
He also expressed his hope that Hanoi’s NA deputies will promptlyreport the aspirations of the people to the assembly. Local residentshave called for revisions of the Law on Land, arguing that it shouldfocus more on agricultural land allocation for planting trees anddevelopment.
Also on October 15, deputies from the southern province of Kien Giang met with voters.
Mostof the voters called on the government to amend a decree on rural andagricultural credit policies, introduce measures supporting agro-productprices and offer agricultural insurance to help farmers overcomedifficulties caused by natural disasters, diseases and market risks.
They asked for the building of a Vietnamese ricetrademark and support to farmers’ production and consumption of othercrops instead of rice.
For their part, voters in theprovince’s island areas suggested that the officials, civil servants andsoldiers working there should be given the same levels of allowance asthose in other extremely disadvantaged regions.-VNA
