Jakarta (VNA) - Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto has stated that the O𓂃rganisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has supported an improved investment climate in the country.

Hartarto said the OECD has provided substantial support to Indonesia in its process of becoming a permanent member of the organisation, adding that it helps develop regulations for a comfortable investment environment in the Southeast Asian nation. He said the organisation will survey the Indonesian economy, adding this is one of their forms of support to improve the domestic investment climate and help the country be on par with OECD member countries.
According to the official, the semiconductor industry's development is one of the government's projections for a new economic engine to help achieve the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision. The semiconductor ecosystem will boost productivity and competitiveness in various manufacturing sectors, including electronics, he stressed, adding that the OECD pledged to support the industry as well as study the digital economic roadmap implemented by ASEAN countries.
During Indonesia's accession process, a memorandum will be drafted, covering 26 sectors such as finance, economics, anti-corruption, fair competition, consumer policy, the digital economy, and technology policy, he said. Since 2007, Indonesia has held partner status with the OECD, alongside Brazil, India, China, and South Africa./.
