The 15th National Assembly on November 30 passed a resolution on the investment policy for the North-South high-speed railway project with 443 out of 454 deputies voting in favour.

A seminar to discuss opportunities and challenges for Vietnamese businesses in joining the North-South high-speed railway project was held in Hanoi on November 19, attracting the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Transport and businesses.

National Assembly deputies on November 13 listened to a report and a verification report on the investment policy of the North-South high-speed railway project worth around 1.7 quadrillion VND (67.34 billion USD), within the framework of the legislature’s ongoing 8th session in Hanoi.

The Politburo convened a meeting in Hanoi on September 18 to deliberate on an investment policy for the North-South high-speed railway project, concluding that it is a highly important and necessary infrastructure work.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on July 11 requested relevant ministries and agencies to consult experts and scientists, and learn from international experiences to quickly complete the building of the North-South high-speed railway project.

The Ministry of Transport said it will strive to complete procedures for 19 transport projects to start construction in 2024. Among the projects, three are directly under the authority of the ministry, namely the Dau Giay-Tan Phu Expressway, Cho Moi-Bac Kan Expressway and Lo T-Rach Soi Expressway.

Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung has ordered the Ministry of Transport and Communication to conduct the pre-feasibility study report of the North-South high-speed railway project in order to submit to the National assembly.
