Non Nuoc Cao Bang receives Global Geopark title certificate after first re-verification

Cao Bang (VNA) – The People’s Committee of Cao Bang province on September 30held a ceremony to launch a culture, sports, and tourism week and receive acertificate re-verifying Non Nuoc Cao Bang a UNESCO-recognised Global Geopark.
In 2018, the Non Nuoc CaoBang geopark was recognised the Global Geopark. Since then, the northern mountainous province has actively participatedin activities of the world’s geopark network and international cooperation. Cao Bang has invested in and put into operation four tourist routes to the geopark, while preserving and promoting geological heritage values and indigenousculture, as well as protecting the environment according to thecriteria and recommendations of UNESCO experts.
At the 7th session ofthe UNESCO Global Geoparks Council taking place in December 2022, thecertificate of the Non Nuoc Cao Bang Global Geopark title after the firstre-verification was approved.
At the ceremony onSeptember 30, Tran Lan Huong, head of the Natural Sciences Department at theUNESCO Office in Vietnam, on behalf of UNESCO, awarded the certificate to CaoBang province.
Meanwhile, the CaoBang Culture, sports, and tourism week which lasts until October 3, includes afine art exhibition, performances of intangible cultural heritage, aparagliding performance, a display of typical local agricultural products, andlocal specialties and a demonstrate of how to prepare local dishes.𒊎/.
Non Nuoc Cao Bang Global Geopark is an exceptional area in which it is possible to explore the history of the Earth for more than 500 million years. It’s also a land of tangible and intangible cultural heritage sites.
A new experiencing route in the UNESCO-recognised Non Nuoc Cao Bang Global Geopark in the northern mountainous province of Cao Bang is introduced to visitors this month.
The conservation and promotion of values of geoheritage, especially geoparks, in Vietnam have advanced, contributing to socioeconomic development, enhancing international integration and improving the position of localities in multilateral cooperation mechanisms, according to insiders.
