Jakarta (VNA) – No Vietnam🦂ese has been reported dead or missing in Palucity, Sulawesi pro⛦vince, after strong earthquakes and tsunami occurred inIndonesia on September 28, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The ministry saidthe Embassy of Vietnam in Indonesia has promptly learned about thesituation and carry out necessary protection measures if any Vietnamese wasaffected. The embassy also confirmed that 10 Vietnamesestudents studying at Tadulako University in Palu city are safe. It has established a working group to ask forassistance from search and rescue agencies, universities and Vietnamese peoplein neighbouring localities if required. The students are also advised to remain calmand closely follow guidance and notice of the local disaster prevention agencyand keep in touch with the embassy’s staff. The ConsularDepartment under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has worked with the embassy to arrange accommodationsfor the students until the situation become stable.

At least five people went missing after a tsunami ravaged Palu, a small city on Sulawesi island in the central part of Indonesia on September 28 after a number of strong earthquakes had hit the area earlier the same day, announced national disaster agency spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho.
The death toll from earthquake and tsunami in Indonesia has amounted to 384 and hundreds of injured people remained in hospitals, said the Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB) on September 29.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo said he will directly steer search and rescue activities following the earthquakes and tsunami in Donggala and Palu cities in central Sulawesi.
