No Vietnamese reported dead or injured in Japan earthquake
There are no Vietnamese people reported dead or injured in the 7.4-magnitude earthquake that hit northeastern Japan on late March 16, according to a Vietnamese expat.

Tokyo (VNA) – There are no Vietnamese peoplereported dead or injured in the 7.4-magnitude earthquake that hitnortheastern Japan on late March 16, according to a Vietnamese expat.
The earthquake struck off the coast of Japan’s Fukushima prefecture ata depth of some 57km just before midnight (local time). Though it was quitepowerful, it did not cause major damage to the region as local authorities andpeople have learnt a lesson from the 2011 quake-tsunami disaster, said Chairwoman of the Vietnamese Association in Fukushima Ngo Le Thuy Trang.
It reminded of the historic earthquake and tsunami in March2011, Trang said. “My house was shaken so strongly and many things were broken.I ran out of my house immediately,” she said.
Fukushima authorities have contacted the association tolearn about how the quake affected Vietnamese people here and provideinstructions for seeking shelters.
The association has been collecting information about the Vietnameseexpats, particularly students and trainees, and in case of need, will donatefood to affected people./.
There has not been any information about Vietnamese casualties in a 6.5 magnitude earthquake that struck Japan’s southwestern island of Kyushu late on April 14.
As of 8:00am on February 14 (Japanese time), no Vietnamese casualties had been reported following a powerful earthquake that struck off the coast of Fukushima, Japan, on February 13 night.
Vietnamese Consul General in Fukuoka Vu Chi Mai highlighted the growing demand for Vietnamese workers in Kyushu, especially in Fukuoka, Oita, and Saga prefectures. Currently, the region employs about 35,000 Vietnamese manual workers and over 5,000 IT engineers.
