Paris (VNA) – The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs said there are noVietnamese citizens recorded among victims of the January 12 gas-leak blast inParis.
TheVietnamese Embassy in France received the response after contacting theministry’s Crisis and Support Centre immediately following the explosion. Theministry said they will promptly inform the Vietnamese side via a prioritycommunications channel if there is any information on Vietnamese affected inthe incident.
TheForeign Ministry of Vietnam has directed the embassy to closely monitor thecase and work with French competent agencies to update on new developments andbe ready to launch citizen protection measures when necessary.

Theexplosion took place at a bakery on Rue de Trevise in the 9th arrondissement ofthe French capital at 8:30 a.m. local time on January 12, as firefighters wereresponding to a gas-leak report.
Localauthorities said it killed two firefighters and a Spanish tourist. At least 47were wounded, of whom about 10 were in critical condition. The bakery wasdestroyed completely, while serious damage was caused to the building housingit as well as surrounding buildings and vehicles.
Parisprosecutor Remy Heitz said the cause of the blast appeared to be an accidentalgas leak. He unveiled that an investigation is carried out to find the exactorigin of the explosion as soon as possible. -VNA
