No COVID-19 testing requirement for Vietnamese returning from Ukraine

The Ministry of Health has instructed that Vietnamese people repatriating from Ukraine do not need to test for SARS-CoV-2 and have the confirmation of having been vaccinated against or having recovered from COVID-19 before boarding planes to Hanoi.

Hanoi (VNA) - The Ministry of Health has instructedthat Vietnamese people repatriating from Ukraine do not need to test forSARS-CoV-2 and have the confirmation of having been vaccinated against orhaving recovered from COVID-19 before boarding planes to Hanoi.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV),the ministry gave the instruction following the President’s conclusion at ameeting on March 5 regarding such repatriation given the current warfare inUkraine.

The ministry considers bringing the citizens home a humanitarian,urgent, and priority work.

Per the instruction, throughout their journey, they have to seriously comply with the health body’s 5K message of khau trang(facemask), khu khuan (disinfection), khoang cach (distance), khong tu tap (nogathering) and khai bao y te (health declaration).

Those on entry, except for children under two years old, aretested by health authorities or self-tested for the coronavirus within thefirst 24 hours after entering Vietnam at their places of stay. If the testresults are negative, they will continue to monitor their health within 10 daysfrom the date of arrival. If the result is positive, they must inform localhealth authorities immediately for further instruction.

The CAAV said it together with the Ministry of ForeignAffairs and the Ministry of Transport are preparing two repatriation flightsfor Vietnamese in Ukraine. One of them operated by Vietnam Airlines carrying283 Vietnamese passengers is scheduled to land in Hanoi’s Noi Bai internationalairport on March 8, while the other by Bamboo Airways airway with 270 people onboard will arrive the next day./.
