Ninh Thuan determined to do away with dilapidated houses by June

Ninh Thuan (VNA) – 🐭The south central province of Ninh Thuan is striving to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses by June this year, demonstrating its commitment to improving living conditions for its vulnerable residents.
Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tran Quoc Nam described the housing renovation programme as a core political mission, reflecting the Party and State's dedication to supporting disadvantaged people. He called for coordinated efforts of the entire political system, people from all walks of life, businesses, and organisations.
Highlighting the significance of strict oversight to prevent any misuse of resources, wastefulness and negative phenomena, he ordered competent departments and sectors to assess the actual housing conditions of beneficiaries who are eligible for new home construction or repairs. Besides, they must take full responsibility for the number of approved housing units, with the review process to be completed by March, enabling the harmonious implementation across the province beginning in April 2025.
The provincial People’s Committee will launch a 90-day campaign to mobilise resources for the construction work. Besides, the provincial People’s Council has agreed to utilise 5% of its 2024 regular expenditure to support the programme.
According to the provincial Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, the initiative targets 2,037 houses across the province, with 1,473 in need of reconstruction and 565 in need of renovation, costing nearly 105 billion VND (4.13 million USD).
Last year, the province spent over 61 billion VND on the construction and renovation of 823 houses for poor and near-poor households./.
Over the past two years, under the housing support programme for the poor and near-poor, Yen Bai province successfully built and repaired 3,022 houses, achieving 100% of its set target.
The northern province of Thai Binh on November 28 launched an emulation campaign “300 days of joint efforts to do away with temporary and dilapidated houses”.
In response to the national movement to join hands to repair and eradicate temporary and dilapidated houses, ministries, sectors, and individuals at home and abroad have contributed billions of VND to provide solid, permanent homes for the country’s most impoverished citizens.
