Hanoi (VNA) – The National Assembly (NA)elected Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Politburo member of the 13th tenure and adeputy of the 14th legislature, as State President for the 2016-2021term on April 5 morning, during the 14th legislature’s 11th sitting.
With 468 approval votes or 97.5 percent of the totalNA deputies, the legislature passed a resolution on the election.
The resolution came into force right after it wonthe approval of the NA.
President Phuc was born on July 20, 1954 in thecentral province of Quang Nam. He was Politburo member of the 11th,12th and 13th tenures, member of the Party CentralCommittee of the 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th tenures, and NA deputy of the 11th, 13th and 14th tenures./.
Politburo member and Minister of Finance Dinh Tien Dung has been assigned by the Political Bureau as Secretary of the Party Committee of Hanoi to replace Politburo member Vuong Dinh Hue, who was elected Chairman of the National Assembly on March 31.
In the last working week from April 5-8, the 11th session of the 14th National Assembly will focus on finishing the personnel work for the State, NA and the Government.
