Nghe An (VNA) – The tourism sector in the central province of Nghe An is striving to serve 5.5 million visitors staying in the locality this year and earn 9 trillion VND (353.7 million USD) in revenue.

According to Director of the provincial Tourism Department Nguyen Manh Cuong, this year, Nghe An has conducted various activities to promote its tourism. The province has organised farmtrips and presstrips to introduce its tourism, while joining tourism promotion events inside and outside the country, and fostering cooperation with Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and regional localities for tourism development, he said.

Alongside, the locality has built new tourism products to meet tourists’ demands, and focused on upgrading local tourism infrastructure, said the official.

He noted that the Cua Hoi entertainment complex and the cable car system to Hoa Ngu island are underway and expected to be put into operation within May, becoming one of the leading entertainment centres in Vietnam.

Meanwhile, the detail planning for the construction of Binh Minh forest park in Cua Lo has been approved, said Cuong, adding that the completion of the North-South Expressway’s section crossing Nghe An has shortened travelling time from Hanoi to Cua Lo, helping lure more visitors to the locality.

Vice Chairman of the Nghe An People’s Committee Bui Dinh Long said that in order to complete the goals for this year, along with strengthening infrastructure development and attracting investment in tourism, the province will renovate tourism promotion activities based on digital transformation, while paying greater attention to human resources training, and expanding MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism.

Nghe An has been a popular destination among visitors thanks to its beautiful beaches, especially Cua Lo beach, along with other tourist attractions such as the Kim Lien special national relic site in President Ho Chi Minh’s hometown, Thanh Chuong tea fields, the Truong Bon historical relic site, the sunflower hill in Nghia Dan, and the Pu Mat National Park. Particularly, Cua Lo attracted 3.6 million tourists last year.

In 2023, Nghe An welcomed more than 8.3 million visitors, including nearly 5.3 million with overnight stays, earning 7.8 trillion VND, surpassing the locality’s targets for the year.

﷽ In the first three months of this year, the province attracted more than 2 million tourists, up 9% year on year, including 1.22 million staying visitors, and eanred nearly 2.1 trillion VND in revenue./.
