The 15th National Assembly (NA) elected To Lam, Politburo member, Minister of Public Security and deputy to the 15th NA, as President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on May 22.

Politburo member Nguyen Xuan Phuc was elected as President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam at the 11th session of the 14th National Assembly on April 5 in Hanoi.

Indian President Ram Nath Kovind and leaders of two communist parties of the country have congratulated General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong on his election as President of Vietnam.
