A marketing campaign encouraging Vietnamese to escape the daily grind ofday to day living and become a tourist in their own country has beenlaunched by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Throughthe campaign, Vietnam will promote itself to domestic holiday makers asan economical alternative to foreign travel. The programme is receivingwidespread support from local travel agencies, reported The Voice ofVietnam (VOV).
The campaign also hopes to instil a travel culturein many parts of the nation as well, especially among previouslydisadvantaged communities and improve tourism product development anddiversification.
The development and packaging ofaffordable domestic products for local consumers is viewed as theministry’s key activity to increase domestic tourism revenue andvolumes.
Saigontourist, one of Vietnam’s leadingtour operators, in turn reports that it has launched a number of highlycompetitively priced tours to destinations in Da Lat, Nha Trang, PhanThiet and Hanoi to welcome the New-Year.
The company is alsofeaturing a large number of domestic travel packages to populardestinations throughout the country from now until the end of 2015 aspart of a concerted effort to boost domestic tourism, a companyrepresentative said.
Tours to the CentralHighlands region such as riding elephants around the M’nong ethnic groupvillages and coffee production tours are expected to be particularlyhot travel tours.
For her part, Hoang LeQuyen, Deputy General Director of the Hoa Binh Travel Company, said heragency is committed to not raising tour prices and supplying the best oftourism services to customers.
Lam Thai Hien,staff in charge of communications of the Viet Travel Company, echoedQuyen’s sentiments saying her company also is paying attention to tourto prices and has discounted many to prices lower than last year.
Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, and Jestar Pacific have also joined hands in the effort to promote domestic tourism.
For 2014, Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air in collaboration with 11travel agencies in the city have issued 49,767 travel tickets, said TranThe Dung, deputy head of domestic tourism stimulus promotion group,under the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association.
With the great assistance of local functional agencies, many traveloperators and airlines have work hand in hand to launch promotionalcampaigns encouraging Vietnamese to ‘go on holiday without leaving theircountry’.
