Hanoi (VNA) – Sen.Lt. Gen. Phan VanGiang, Chief of the General Staff ofthe Vietnam People's Army and Deputy Defence Minister hosted a reception for visitingAdmiral Luechai Ruddit, Commander in Chief of the Royal Thai Navy in Hanoi on June 18.

At the meeting, Sen.Lt. Gen. Giang noted that the defencecooperation between Vietnam and Thailand has expanded over the past years.

He lauded and highly valued thepartnership between the Vietnam People’s Navy and the Royal Thai Navy, with diverse cooperation contentssuch as delegation exchange, joint patrol, information exchange, personneltraining, hotline operation, and visits of vessels.

He expressed his hope thatthe two sides will continue promoting the current cooperation fields, whileseeking new areas to suit the demand and capacity of each side.

The two sides should consultand support each other at multilateral forums, he added.

Giang pledged to continuecreating favourable conditions for the naval forces of both sides to furtherfoster their affiliation in the future.

For his part, Admiral Luechai Ruddit committed to working hard to further bolster thepartnership between the naval forces of Vietnam and Thailand.

He proposed thatthe two sides conduct more joint patrol to timely deal with arising matters,and maintain security at sea for the growth of each country and the region.-VNA
