Hanoi (VNA) –🍃 President Truong Tan Sang urged the Hanoi-based Vietnam National University (VNU) to continue revamping its teaching and learning methods, and employing advanced international education models in order to produce outstanding achievements.

During his February 25 visit to the university – a leading educational institute in Vietnam, the President said VNU should become a base to assess the country’s industrialisation and modernisation in the context of international integration.
To meet the goal, it requires the resolve of the entire political system, policy makers and the contingent of intellectuals, he stressed. Regarding the Vietnam-Japan University, VNU’s new member located in the Hoa Lac High-Tech Park in the west of Hanoi , the leader asked VNU to partner with relevant ministries and agencies to complete a feasibility project as soon as possible to take advantage of the support and assistance from the Government and businesses of Japan. The Vietnam-Japan University, whose concept comes from the ideas and hopes of high-ranking leaders from Vietnam and Japan, will offer courses in Japanese, English and Vietnamese. It will run a course model that features a close connection between training and research, businesses and university, and public-private ties.
As a graduate and post-graduate training facility, and a research centre in various sectors, VNU plays an important role in national higher education. Staffed by nearly 1,900 lecturers, the university organises an average of over 360 training courses every year, attracting some 36,000 students. With its marked performance, VNU has been placed by the QS World University Ranking in the top 191-200 universities in Asia and the leading university in Vietnam.-VNA
