Paris (VNA) – A ceremony to mark th⛦e 41st anniversary of the libe♏ration of South Vietnam and national reunification (April 30) was held at the Vietnamese Embassy in France on April 28.
The event was attended by Vietnamese Ambassador to France Nguyen Ngoc Son, Head of the Vietnamese Permanent Delegation to UNESCO Le Hong Phan, Vietnamese expats in France, representatives from the France-Vietnam Friendship Association, ministries and agencies as well as leaders of Choisy-le-Roi city.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador Son recalled the historic victory, highlighting that Vietnam remembers the international support for the country during the struggle for national liberation and development, including support from the French.
He also hailed the national Doi moi (reform) in the past three decades, which has brought advancements in socio-economics, defence and security as well as diplomatic relations.
The 12th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam held in January promoted reforms for rapid and sustainable development, he added.
Alain Ruscio, Director of CID-Vietnam, a French-based information centre focusing on contemporary Vietnam, highlighted France’s special sentiment and support for Vietnam during war as well as during national construction.
He expressed his hope that Vietnam will reap further successes following the achievements brought about by Doi moi.-VNA
