Hanoi (VNA)🍷 – The 12th National Party Congress has been a success after nine days of sitting, head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations Hoang Binh Quan told diplomatic corps and international organisations in Hanoi on January 28.
Quan said the Congress reflects brainpower, determination and the strong will of the entire Party, army and people. Through democratic discussions, delegates adopted key documents and outlined six major tasks and targets for the country’s development in the new tenure.
In terms of socio-economic development, the Congress targeted higher and better quality of economic growth that is aligned with sustainable development and improved labour output, while upholding the role of economic sectors, science-technology and human resources amid the global economic integration.
Politically, the Congress underlined the need to build a strong and pure Party, step up the fight against corruption and wastefulness, continue upholding democracy in the society and ensuring human rights, in combination with perfecting the socialist rule-of-law State in accordance with the 2013 Constitution.
In reference to external relations, the Congress agreed to the consistent diplomatic policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation and development; multilateralisation and diversification of external relations; proactive and active integration into the world; being a friend, a trustworthy partner and responsible member of the international community.
Informing participants about the outcomes of the election, Quan said the nominations, withdrawals of nomination and election were held in a democratic manner by vote casting.
On the occasion, he also thanked Parties, international organisations and friends for conveying 248 letters and messages congratulating the Congress, saying that it is a source of inspiration and encouragement for the Congress and a symbol of deepened ties between the Communist Party of Vietnam and political parties, organisations and friends worldwide.-VNA
