Hanoi (VNA) – The 2022 nationalhigh school graduation examination started on July 7 morning with literaturebeing the first subject to be sit for.
This year’s examinees are the ones affectedby the COVID-19 pandemic for all the three high school years. In particular,they spent about 70 percent of their 12th grade’s time on learningonline.
Deputy Minister of Education andTraining Nguyen Huu Do said this is their disadvantage, so the ministry had orderedlocalities to make use of the few days of face-to-face learning to helpstudents reinforce knowledge.
Questions will focus on fundamentalknowledge and also contain certain queries that can help classify exam sitters sothat universities can use test results to recruit students, he noted.

The 2022 exam includes five tests: mathematics;literature; foreign languages; natural sciences (physics, chemistry, biology);and social sciences (history, geography, citizen education) for students followingthe general education curriculum, or history and geography for those followingthe continuing education curriculum.
Students can choose either natural sciencesor social sciences tests to take.
While mathematics, literature,foreign languages, natural sciences, and social sciences tests are held in themultiple-choice format, literature is in the writing one.
As many as 989,863 examinees,equivalent to 98.75% of the registered, came to examination sites nationwide tohandle procedures on July 6 afternoon, according to the Ministry of Educationand Training./.
The new senior high school curriculum still ensures the role of history education, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Huu Do said, referring to the ministry’s decision to make history an optional subject in the national senior high school curriculum that will take effect from the next academic year.
The National Assembly (NA)'s Committee for Culture and Education has submitted to the NA Standing Committee a report affirming that many voters, experts, scientists and teachers disagreed with a plan to make history a selective subject in senior high school curriculum.
In cases candidates for the high school graduation exam are COVID-19-positive and have certificates for their health condition, they can be exceptionally approved for graduation, according to regulations issued by the Ministry of Education and Training.
