Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand hosted a gatheringin the northeastern Thai province of Udon Thani on September 2 to celebrateVietnam’s 73rd National Day.
Attending the event were the Governors andDeputy Governors of Thailand’s northeastern provinces, Vietnamese DeputyForeign Minister and Chairman of the State Commission for Overseas VietnameseAffairs Vu Hong Nam, Chairman of the Vietnamese General Association in ThailandCao Van San and representatives from the overseas Vietnamese community.
Speaking at the ceremony, VietnameseAmbassador Nguyen Hai Bang lauded late President Ho Chi Minh, who led Vietnam tosuccess in the struggle for independence.
He stressed that Vietnamese people can beproud of the country’s development. From a poor country, Vietnam has become adeveloping and middle income nation, with people’s living conditions improved,its socio-political situation stabilised and its position in the internationalarena enhanced.
The diplomat stated that Vietnam-Thailandrelations are developing well, in not only defence security, but alsoeconomics, trade and investment.
They are each other’s biggest trade partnerin ASEAN, with two-way trade growing by 15.5 percent each year to hit 15.3billion USD in 2017. Thailand ranks ninth out of 126 nations and territoriesinvesting in Vietnam, with 493 projects worth a total 10 billion USD, he added.
Also on the occasion, the overseasVietnamese community in Berlin and Brandenburg held a sport and culturalfestival to connect Vietnamese people living in Germany.-VNA
The 8th Vietnamese culture festival (Vietfest Seoul 2018) was held at Gwanghwamun Square in downtown Seoul, the Republic of Korea (RoK), on September 2 to celebrate the 73rd National Day of Vietnam.
Leaders of foreign countries sent congratulatory messages to Vietnamese Party, State and Government leaders on the country’s 73rd National Day (September 2).

The programme on sustainable poverty reduction has achieved its annual targets for reducing the poverty rate as assigned by the National Assembly and the Government. It has fulfilled five specific objectives and five five-year goals, and met nine out of 12 indicators related to addressing basic social service shortages.
UNICEF stands ready to support the Government in implementing this important law and in continuing to invest in teachers as the cornerstone of a resilient, inclusive, and high-quality education system for all children.

At a review conference held on June 21, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Van Sinh praised the province’s scientific, coordinated, and flexible approach.
