National Assembly Standing Committee sits for 22nd session

The 22nd sitting of the Standing Committee of the 14th National Assembly kicked off in Hanoi on March 12 under the chair of NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

Hanoi (VNA) - The 22nd sitting of the Standing Committee of the 14th National Assembly kicked off in Hanoi on March 12 under the chair of NAChairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

In her opening remarks, the NA Chairwoman said the session will be divided intotwo sessions, with the first one being from March 12-13, and the remainder willbe from March 19-20.

Participantswill give opinions on draft laws, including the draft Law on amendments and supplements to somearticles of the Education Law; the draft Law on amendments andsupplements to some articles of the Higher EducationLaw; the draft Law on Measurement and Map; the draft revised Law on Competition;and the draft Law onSpecial Administrative-EconomicUnits.

Question-and-answer (Q&A) sessions will beincluded in the event.

The meeting will not consider the organization of votes of confidence for theperson holding positions that was elected and approved by the NA and the People'sCouncils. The ballot will be made at the second session of the NA this year.

The submissionof three draft laws including the Law on Coast Guards, the Urban Development and Management Law, and the draft revised Anti-Corruption Law will be postponeddue to lack of comments from some authorities, Ngan said.

During the morning sitting of March 12, the NA Standing Committee commentedon the Decree on funding for the use of irrigation public services and products;and on the different opinions of the draft Law on Measurement and Map.-VNA
