Hanoi, (VNA) – Lawmakers spent the entire May 25 andthe morning of May 26 to scrutinise the Government’s reports on socio-economicand State budget performance in 2🌊017 and the first months of 2018 during the on-going5th session of the 14th National Assembly.

The NA deputies shared the assessment that the economicpanorama in 2017 and early 2018 is bright with impressive indicators, includinga GDP growth of 6.81 percent and 12 out of 13 socio-economic targets met orsurpassed. The GDP continued to maintain a high growth rate in the firstquarter this year with a decade-high of 7.38 percent. They also took note of the stable expansion industrialproduction and good growth in the indicators on finance, monetary, developmentinvestment, services, tourism and import-export. Many deputies hailed the Government’s efforts that helpedraise the country’s position in world rankings on business environment,competitiveness and innovation, saying that the outcomes strengthen voters andthe people’s trust. The deputies also pointed out shortcomings and outstandingproblems and proposed recommendations on how to address them for sustainabledevelopment. In the afternoon of May 26, the NA listened to a draftresolution on addressing several arising issues in State budget execution in2017 and State budget estimates in 2018. The NA’s Committee for Financial and Budgetary Affairs alsopresented its report evaluating the draft resolution. Following the presentation, lawmakers would discuss thedraft resolution and the evaluation report. -VNA
