CanTho (VNA) – National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan dealtwith the issues of education, BOT, infrastructure investment, and electricityprice, during a meeting with constituents in the Mekong Delta city of Can Thoon June 17.

Regardingvoters’ concerns about teachers’ qualification, Chairwoman Ngan said therevised Law on Education has improved qualification standards for teachers atall levels to raise education and personnel quality.

The leader informed them that before school and university examinations 2019,the NA and government urged the education sector and localities to hold them inline with the law, thus meeting aspirations of voters and people.

Replyingto voters’ wishes for more State investment in infrastructure in the MekongDelta, she said the cost for constructing infrastructure, bridges or roads inthe region is always higher than other regions due to the treatment of landfoundation, and the transport of construction materials from other places, soprojects there are more likely to be delayed.

Shealso took note of voters’ suggestion on disallowing the designation ofcontractors to Build-Operate-Transfer projects to avoid State budgetwastefulness.

Aboutelectricity prices, she said the government has requested reviewing the impactsof power price hike on households in different income groups and providingsupport for poor families, adding that lawmakers’ proposals have been acquiredto make proper adjustment in electricity price management.-VNA
