Brussels (VNA) – Vietnam sets sight on rapid and sustainable socio-economic developmentwith a long-term vision to 2030 and 2045♊, National Assembly Chairman Vuong DinhHue told a Vietnam – Belgium business roundtable on September 9.

Hue said the country’sgrowth will mostly rely on science-technology, innovation and digitaltransformation. The nation will also perfect market economy institution in tandemwith socio-economic development, environment, national defence-security andexternal relations. Vietnam advocatesattracting foreign investment selectively with quality, efficiency, technologyand environment protection as major criteria, he said, adding that priority isgiven to projects in high technology, innovation, research and development.

He asked Belgianfirms to push forward the Belgian parliament’s approval of the European Union –Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA).

The top legislator alsoproposed the Belgian Government๊ and firms continue providing vaccines for Vietnamvia COVAX Facility mechanism.


In the morning the sameday, Minister of In⭕dustry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien also received SecretaryGeneral of the Federation of Euroཧpean Sporting Goods Industry (FESI) JeromePero and representatives from Nike Group.

Dien hoped that FESIand Nike will raise voice to the EU and US adminsitration to make it easier forVietnam to access vaccines at the earliest via COVAX mechanism or commercialchannel. FESI and Nike also discussed the possibility of assistingVietnam in COVID-19 fight such as supplying test kits or factory cleansingequipment. During a working session with Univercells earlier, Dienlistened to the company’s presentation about its projects with the Vietnamesefirms regarding vaccine study and production. Its suggestions andmaterials will be sent immediately to the Health Ministry and potentialpartners in Vietnam for consideration./.
