NA Chairman Hue’s trip fosters Laos-Vietnam ties: Lao association leader

Vientiane (VNA) – Vietnamese National Assembly(NA) Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue’s trip to Laos for the first Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam(CLV) Parliamentary Summit has contributed to reinforcing the great friendship,special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam,stated President of the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Association Dr. BoviengkhamVongdara.
The Vietnamese top legislator was warmly welcomed by Lao leaders, showing their respectfor NA Chairman Hue and their high evaluation of his participation in the CLV Parliamentary Summit, and demonstrating the special ties between thetwo countries, said Vongdara.
During his stay in Laos from December 4-7, NA Chairman Huehad a meeting with Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith and Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone,and held talks with his Lao counterpart Xaysomphone Phomvihane.

During the meetings and talks, the two sides discussedbilateral partnership, evaluating the cooperation between the two sides in thefields of politics, economy, security-defence, culture, society, among others.
The Vietnamese NA leader’s visit was made while Laos wascebebrating the 48th National Day, providing a chance for the twosides to talk about important issues, stated Vongdara.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on archival cooperation for 2024 was signed at a ceremony in Hanoi on December 6 by Director of the State Archives and Records Department, Dang Thanh Tung, and Director of the National Archives Department under the Lao Ministry of Home Affairs Thongchanh Keosenhom.

The country is willing to participate in collective efforts to promote cooperation and mobilise resources to advance the current priority issues of developing countries, such as trade, investment, infrastructure connectivity, making the most of scientific and technological advances for development, and people-to-people exchanges, Hang said.
During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
