Myanmar has tightened security in the Yangon region, particularlyreligious buildings, in response to threat from the terroristorganisation Al-Qaeda.
The Yangon Region Securityand Border Affairs Ministry on September 23 said that patrols are beingstrengthened while entry points are under strict supervision throughcameras.
Armed forces have also increased the number of checkpoints and closely monitored the possible entering of terrorists.

These security measures has been undertaken since Al-Qaeda leaderAyman al Zawahiri’s recent video announcement of the launch of a newbranch in the Indian subcontinent with the aim of expanding jihad to theregion.
