Hanoi (VNA)🌊 – The Myanmar Government has announced 12 new economic policies, aiming to promote sustainable development and support the national peace and reconciliation process.

At just three pages, the policies, launched by the Ministry of Planning and Finance in the capital, Naypyitaw, come some eight months after the National League for Democracy (NLD) won a resounding victory in the November 2015 election.
The policies include privatisation of some state-owned businesses, developing infrastructure facilities and enhancing human resources training, among others. Deputy Minister of Planning and Finance Maung Maung Win said that the policy document was an "overview", and that more detailed plans on specific areas of the economy would be released.
Meanwhile, State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, leader of the ruling NLD, noted that specific measures for important sectors like investment, energy and infrastructure will be issued soon. The NLD swept to victory in the election in November 2015. Htin Kyaw was elected as Myanmar’s first civilian President in March 2016. Meanwhile, Aung San Suu Kyi was appointed as State Counsellor, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of the President’s Office.-VNA
