MSMEs drive Indonesia’s economic growth

Hanoi (VNA) ✃– Indonesian Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Maman Abdurrahman has emphasised the sector’s vital role in driving the country’s economy.

Speaking at the 2025 Economic Outlook event in Jakarta on February 19, the minister outlined key challenges that MSMEs are facing, including access to funding and markets.

꧙ He also introduced three government initiatives to support the sector, namely enhancing management and production quality, providing financial assistance, and building a sustainable business ecosystem.

The minister stressed the need for multi-sector collaboration, including a partnership with the Ministry of Manpower to train entrepreneurs. Indonesia is now home to 64.2 million MSMEs, which contribute over 61% of the country's GDP and generate more than 100 million jobs./.
