The Philippine Department of Health (DOH) on September 16 announced three additional cases of monkeypox (mpox), bringing the total confirmed cases across the country this year to 18.

The Philippines’ Department of Health on September 9 reported four new cases of monkeypox, raising the total number of infections in the country to 23 since July 2022.

Thailand is intensifying efforts to monitor all individuals infected with mpox and their close contacts, ensuring that they are under strict surveillance so as to prevent further spread of the disease, the country's health officials said on August 29.

To detect promptly mpox (formerly called monkeypox) cases domestically and from international arrivals, Vietnamese authorities have stepped up efforts in monitoring and preventing the spread of the disease and providing guidance on related surveillance and control measures, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs's Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang has said.

Thailand has detected a mpox case in a tourist who is suspiciously the first case of Clade 1b infection in the Southeast Asian country, local authorities said on August 21.
