Mozambican PM visits committee on incidents, disaster response

Hanoi (VNA) – Mozambique’s PrimeMinister Carlos Agostinho do Rosario led a delegation to visitthe National Steering Committee for response to incidents, naturaldisasters and search and rescue in Hanoi on July 31.
He said Mozambique has long been impacted bynatural disasters and climate change, expressing his hope the Committee willshare its experience and skills in adapting to natural disasters and miningincidents on the basis of friendship between the two nations.
Pham Ngoc Minh, Deputy Chief ofthe General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, and Vice Head ofthe Steering Committee, said the Government of Vietnam has paid due attentionto responding to incidents, natural disasters and search and rescue.
Over the past 10 years, the Committee has warnedmore than 3.5 million vehicles, with nearly 18 million people on board on theprogress of tropical low pressure systems and storms. Some 2.1 million peoplehave been mobilised to participate in efforts responding to incidents, natural disasters, and34,000 people were rescued.
Around-the-clock local resources have beendeployed to tackle natural disasters, Minh said.
During their stay, the delegation visited the Committee’sVietnam Search and Rescue Coordination Centre.-VNA
Vietnam and Mozambique can cooperate in several transportation areas as the two countries share similarities in geography and own a four-decade traditional solidarity and friendship.
A business exchange and an exhibition of made-in-Vietnam goods was held in Maputo, Mozambique on June 23-24, aiming to promote economic and trade links between the two countries.
