- With all 452 deputies present voting in favour, accounting for 94.56% of the total number of deputies, the 15th National Assembly (NA) adopted a resolution on amending and supplementing several articles of the 2013 Constitution during the legislature's ninth session on May 5.

The decision paves the way for the streamlining of the political system's organisational apparatus, with revisions focusing on the role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, socio-political organisations, the delimitation of administrative units, and the organisation of local governments. - Party General Secretary To Lam, accompanied by his spouse and a high-level delegation, met with staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Kazakhstan on the evening of May 5 as part of his ongoing state visit to the Central Asian country.

- The UN Day of Vesak Celebrations 2025 in Vietnam will further strengthen solidarity and offer meaningful contributions to global peace and development, according to Most Venerable Thich Tri Quang, the Supreme Patriarch of the Patronage Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS).

Receiving heads of international Buddhist delegations attending Vesak 2025 on May 5, Quang expressed confidence that with over 500 speeches and presentations, the event will represent a significant contribution of Buddhism to human knowledge. - Nikkei Asia on May 5 published a mega story by journalist Atsushi Tomiyama, analysing the impressive economic growth that Vietnam has achieved thanks to its renovation efforts.
Vietnam's economic success is attributed mainly to the “Doi Moi” (Renewal) policy launched at the 6th National Party Congress in 1986. The article said that these renovation efforts began to generate positive results in the second half of the 1990s. Read full story
- The Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) has lifted a suspension on Vietnamese tilapia fish imports.
Previously, in February 2024, the MAPA decided to temporarily suspend the import of Vietnamese tilapia to review the risk of TiLV (Tilapia tilapinevirus) infection. From November 2023 to February 2024, Brazil granted 22 import licenses for tilapia fillets from Vietnam and rejected two others. Read full story
