- The 15th National Assembly (NA) deliberated the draft revised Railway Law at its 9th session on June 18, with the majority of lawmakers stressing that the law is essential to institutionalise the Party’s guidelines and the State's policies, while providing a legal foundation and driving force for the development of the railway sector.
Highlighting the transformative potential of the draft law in revitalising Vietnam’s railway industry, Hoang Van Cuong, a deputy of Hanoi, expressed his support for Article 39, which empowers the Prime Minister to issue a list of railway-related goods and services to be assigned or ordered from domestic enterprises for production. - No wrongdoings or misconducts are allowed to occur at any stage of the upcoming high school graduation exam in order to build a civilised, modern, humane, and high-quality education system, thereby contributing to the enhancement of the country's human resources quality, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasised on June 18.
This is the largest-ever exam, with the participation of over 1.1 million students across all 63 provinces and centrally-run cities. It will take place on June 26 and 27 at 2,493 exam sites with more than 50,000 exam rooms. Approximately 200,000 personnel are expected to be mobilised for organising the exam, including officials and teachers from the education sector, as well as those from the police, military, healthcare, and electricity sectors. - Amid the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) of Vietnam has swiftly coordinated with the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of National Defence, and Vietnamese diplomatic agencies in the region to closely monitor developments, evaluate the situation, safeguard the safety of citizens and diplomatic headquarters, and devise plans for potential evacuations from conflict-affected areas.
According to the MoFA, the conflict between Israel and Iran broke out on June 13 and has continued to see unpredictable developments, posing serious risks to civilian safety, including the Vietnamese communities residing in both countries. Right on the same day, the ministry issued its highest-level travel warning, urging Vietnamese citizens not to travel to Israel or Iran, and advised those already in these countries to swiftly consider evacuation or relocation plans. - The Vietnamese Embassy in New Zealand held a ceremony in Wellington on June 17 evening to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (June 19, 1975 –2025).

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has signed a decision to suspend Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Nguyen Ba Hoan from his position pending further action by competent authorities.
The suspension, effective under Decision No. 1178/QD-TTg dated June 17, entitles Hoan to 50% of his current salary, excluding leadership and managerial allowances. Read full story
