– Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held a meeting with representatives from Vietnam’s embassy and other representative agencies and the Vietnamese community in the Republic of Korea (RoK) on June 26, within the framework of his official visit to the country.

PM Chinh said that the relationship between Vietnam and the RoK is at its best today, with the two becoming each other's leading partner in numerous fields. In an interview with Vietnam News Agency's reporters based in south Europe on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Vietnam-Croatia diplomatic relations (July 1, 1994-2024), she highlighted the robust relations between the two countries which have been expanded across various sectors, with the most impressive being politics-diplomacy, economy and trade, adding they boast huge potential for cooperation to promote their strengths.Read full story

A highlight of the trip was the third meeting of the Joint Committee for Scientific and Technological Cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology and BMBF held in Berlin on June 27. This biennial meeting aimed to update their respective policies on sci-tech development and innovation, review achievements since the previous meeting, and discuss future directions and plans for bilateral cooperation activities.Read full story

– Vietnam attracted nearly 15.2 billion USD in foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first six months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 13.1%, according to the General Statistics Office.

Foreign investors registered nearly 9.54 billion USD in 1,538 new projects, up 46.9% in capital and 18.9% in the project number as compared to the same time last year.Read full story

- Vietnam's consumer price index (CPI) rose by 4.08% in the first half compared to the same period last year, while core inflation increased by 2.75%, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

The GSO defined several factors contributing to the CPI growth, which included the respective annual 4% and 5.51% increases of the price indexes for the groups of food and food services as well as of housing, electricity, water, fuel, and construction materials.Read full story

– Vietnam’s goods export turnover was estimated at 190.08 billion USD in the first half of 2024, a year on year rise of 14.5% and pushing up the country's trade surplus to 11.63 billion USD, reported the General Statistics Office (GSO) on June 29.

The growth was driven by both domestic and foreign-invested sectors. The domestic economic sector saw an export rise 20.6% to 53.39 billion USD USD, accounting for 28.1% of the total.Read full story
