Hanoi (VNA) – The following is a list of selected news summaries reported last night by the Vietnam News Agency. - Party General Secretary To Lam has lauded Party committees and inspection commissions at all levels for their achievements in the Party inspection and supervision work since the beginning of the tenure and throughout 2024, saying that they have been contributing to fortifying the Party building and rectification, ensuring a strong and clean political system and bolstering the trust of officials, Party members and citizens in the Party.

General Secretary Lam made the praise while chairing the national conference of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat in Hanoi on December 19. The hybrid event was connected with 63 locations from the Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission, municipal and provincial Party committees and those under the centrally-run agencies. - Vietnam's candidature for re-election to the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) for the 2026–2028 tenure is a continuation of its positive contributions, strong commitment and readiness to support collective efforts of the international community, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Spokeswoman Pham Thu Hang has said.

- Vietnam will be the standout among the top six ASEAN economies (ASEAN-6), growing at a faster pace relative to its peers during the next few years, according to the Oxford Economics, a global economic advisory firm.

It forecast Vietnam’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth will reach 6.7% this year and 6.5% next year, driven by a strong manufacturing sector and a rapid recovery in domestic demand. A key source of growth for Vietnam next year will be its manufacturing exports. Read full story
