More Vietnamese volunteer soldiers’ remains repatriated from Cambodia

Long An (VNA) – The provincial Steering Committeefor search, collection and identification of fallen soꦡldiers’ remains (SteeringCommittee 515) in the Mekong Delta province of Long An on January 25 held aceremony at Binh Hiep international border gate to receive 34 boxes of remainsof Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who laid down their lives in thebattlefields in Cambodia during wartime.

The remains were found in Cambodia’s Pailin, Battambang and Svayprovinces during the first phase in the 2023-2024 dryseason. Search activities were conducted at 62 locations, and the construction of an area to worship and keep remainsof Vietnamese soldiers and experts in the Pailin military sub-region started. Since 2001, a team in charge of the work has searched, gathered and repatriated remains of 2,401 martyrs./.
