More than 7,000 athletes are competing in the National Sports Games which is taking place in Hanoi, the northern province of Hoa Binh and the central province of Khanh Hoa from November 15 to December 10.

Hanoi (VNA) –💫 More than 7,000 athletes arecompeting in the National Sports Games which is taking place in Hanoi, thenorthern province of Hoa Binh and the central province of Khanh Hoa fromNovember 15 to December 10.

At a press briefing in Hanoi on November 15, the Vietnam SportsAdministration (VSA) said the athletes, who came from all 63 provinces andcentrally-run cities and the military and police, are vying for medals in 743events of 36 sports. The opening ceremony of the Games, the country’s largestsport event, will be held in the evening of November 25 at the My Dinh NationalStadium in Hanoi, and the closing event will take place at the HanoiTrack-and-Field Centre. Deputy General Director of the VSA Tran Duc Phan said theNational Sports Games, held every four years, has contributed to improve theawareness of the entire society about the significance of sport and promote thephysical training movement among the public, while enhancing the performance ofprofessional athletes. On the first day of the National Sports Games (November 15),competitions in beach volleyball started in Khanh Hoa and basketball inHanoi.-VNA
