President of Miss Universe Organisation (MUO) Paula Shugart has askedKhanh Hoa province to host the 2011 Miss Universe pageant.
Meeting with the Deputy Chairman of the central province ofKhanh Hoa People’s Committee Le Xuan Than on June 30, Paula Shugart saidher organisation has selected Nha Trang as the venue for next year’scontest and to celebrate 60 years of the establishment of theorganisation.
“We are waiting for permission from Khanh Hoaprovince and the Vietnamese government,” she said.
Thanwelcomed the organisation’s proposal, saying he believed that Khanh Hoais capable of hosting the event, as it had hosted the Miss Universe in2008.
He told the MUO and its partner to draw up detailedplans including fundings for the event to submit to the provincialPeople’s Committee. Once approved by the committee, the plans will besubmitted to the Government for consideration./.
The programmes have brought about positive changes to rural infrastructure, comprehensively improved the material and spiritual lives of farmers, and contributed to Vietnam's economic restructuring, said PM Pham Minh Chinh.
