Ministry reviews implementation of global integration strategy on labour

Hanoi (VNA) -𒀰 The Ministry of Labour,Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) held a workshop on November 24 to reviewthe five-year implementation of a global integration strategy on labour andsocial affairs to 2020 with a vision until 2030.

In her remarks, Deputy Minister of Labour, Invalidsand Social Affairs Nguyen Thi Ha underlined that the ministry has activelyjoined international conventions on labour, employment, people with disabilities,and women and children. Vietnam is also party to multilateral tradeagreements such as the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement forTrans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA),and has bolstered its cooperation with traditional and possible future partners,strengthening friendship, understanding, and mutual trust and creating momentumfor ongoing cooperation. In the recent past, measures to support vulnerable groupshave come in the form of knowledge and technology transfer, providing technicalsupport in policy-making and in creating legal documents on the issue. Amid new challenges in the modern era, Ha askedagencies of the labour, invalids and social affairs sector to continue to review,supplement, and adjust upcoming plans, for the smooth operations ofinternational cooperation activities and integration. The strategy focuses on completing institutions inlabour, invalids, and social affairs; global integration in labour andemployment, vocational training, and social welfare; and ASEAN integration inlabour, invalids, and social affairs. In the five-year period, the revised Labour Code wasapproved and fundamental conventions of the International Labour Organisation (ILO),most notably Convention No 98 on the Right to Organise and CollectiveBargaining, were ratified./.
