Quang Ngai (VNA) – The Ministry ofLabour, Invalids and Labour (MOLISA) has pledged to provide 300 tonnes of ricein aid to the central province of Quang Ngai which was hard hit by floodingduring November 30-December 8. At a working session with the provincial People’sCommittee on December 14, MOLISA Minister Dao Ngoc Dung requested the localadministration quickly count and report flood damages so that the ministry candecide on suitable support.
According to initial reports, the recent floods killed 10 people in theprovince, leaving four missing and inundated 1,800 houses. More than 700hectares of rice fields and over 3,500 hectares of crop were damaged. NationalHighway 24 and 24C as well as many provincial roads were also affected.
Local officials also asked for more funding to build houses and thesecond phase of the sanatorium for people who rendered service to the country.
Since November 29, heavy rains hit the central region, causingwidespread floods that claiming 10 lives in Quang Ngai province, six in BinhDinh and three in Quang Nam.
Hundreds of houses were collapsed, thousands of hectares of rice andcrops were submerged, roads and other facilities were damaged in thehardest-hit provinces of Thue Thien – Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai and Binh Dinh.
